rear disk brake piston tool (recommended)
Impact driver with Phillips bit (recommended)
Hydraulic jack
Jackstands
5" C clamp
Phillips screwdriver
10, 12, 14, 17 mm wrenches
19 mm socket, 6" extension bar and ratchet
small sledge
Torque wrench

-:: Installation Steps ::-



1. Raise vehicle and place on jackstands, remove wheels.

2. Use impact driver to loosen (don't remove them just yet) all Phillips screws that hold the rotors onto the hub at each corner. Some of these bolts can be removed with a screwdriver, but some need a bit of "help". Using a screwdriver on the stubborn screws can easily strip the threads.

3. Remove front caliper from the caliper bracket by removing both 12 mm bolts. Support caliper with wire to avoid damaging brake lines.



4. Remove old pads, have a good laugh if required. Remove both 17 mm bolts that hold the caliper bracket to the knuckle. Use of a breaker bar may be required.

5. Use large C clamp to push the caliper piston back into place. If the rubber boot gets twisted, straighten it out before continuing. Some brake fluid may drip out of the reservoir, try to clean surfaces with spilled fluid on them.

6. Remove both Phillips screws. Remove the old rotor, have a good laugh if required.



7. Install new rotor in it's place. Hand tighten the two Phillips screws, they only need to snug.

8. Remove slider pins from caliper bracket. Clean them and coat them with brake grease. Reinstall (don't forget to slip the rubber boot over the groove) and verify that they slide freely.

9. Reinstall the caliper bracket, tighten both 17 mm bolts.



10. Install new brake pads (warning track towards middle of car). Add a bit of brake grease on the metal sliders (where the pad slides).

11. Reinstall the caliper, tighten both 12 mm bolts. They should be tightened to 24 ft/lbs.

12. For ease of access to the rear calipers (and to save your knuckles), remove the upper dust shield. It's held in place with two 10 mm nuts.



13. Remove both 14 mm bolts that hold the caliper braket to the rear knuckle.

14. With the help of a rear disk brake piston tool, rotate the piston back into place (clockwise), align the groove vertically with the piston. If the rubber boot gets twisted, straighten it out before continuing.

15. Remove both Phillips screws. Remove the old rotor, have a good laugh if required.



16. Install new rotor in it's place. Hand tighten the two Phillips screws, they only need to snug.

17. Remove slider pins from caliper bracket. Clean them and coat them with brake grease. Reinstall (don't forget to slip the rubber boot over the groove) and verify that they slide freely.

18. Reinstall the caliper bracket, tighten both 14 mm bolts.



19. Install new brake pads (warning track towards middle of car). Add a bit of brake grease on the metal sliders (where the pad slides).

20. Reinstall the caliper, tighten both 12 mm bolts. They should be tightened to 24 ft/lbs.

21. Reinstall dust shield, reinstall both 10 mm bolts hand tight.

22. Repeat these steps for the other side.

23. Reinstall wheels, torque to 90 ft/lbs.

24. Lower vehicle and follow brake manufacturers breakin procedures.


-:: Installation Comments ::-



Flushing the brake fluid after changing the pads and rotors is a good idea. Simply bleed the system in this order: RR, LF, LR, RF. Keep filling the brake fluid reservoir, and once the fluid at all 4 corners is the same colour as the new fluid, the job is done. Bleeder bolts can be a little stiff, and are easy to snap off. The should be tightened hand tight, and verify that no brake fluid leaks once completed.
