Nitrous oxide injection is probably one of the most misunderstood modifications in our hobby

... or increasing the compression ratio of the engine. Automotive nitrous systems work like the automotive eqivalent of a jet's "afterburner" and is used for short duration extra bursts of power. Nitrous oxide has this effect because it has a higher percentage of oxygen content than does the air in the atmosphere. Nitrous has 36% oxygen by weight and the atmosphere has 23%. Additionally, ... ... mike (behind the small grille by the sunroof controls) wasn't fully compatible with this kit. So I decided to mount the mic from the kit onto the windshield right next to the post of the rear view mirror. It's very subtle -- I then tucked the wire then thru the A-Pillar and down to the control unit in the back seat. It works great and the sound quality is superb. Note: I had to extend it with a ... NOS Page
Model : Ford, Probe Category : Driveterrain - Transmission
... I swapped in a new set of plugs and made three more runs that night, without any problems. Returning to Mr. B----'s shop, I handed over the plugs and he showed me what to look for. Basically, the ground strap should be heated 1/2-3/4 of the total length. If you look closely, you can actually see a line where the heating stops. I ran a mixture of 93 and 116 unleaded octane race gas as an extra ... (more)

New Front Shocks

... to remove the nut with no damage to any of the threads. Once the lower bolt is removed, the shock literally falls out of the van. I played with the shocks for a few minutes once they were out, extending and compressing them by hand. They offered almost no resistance in either direction and I could hear the air gurgling inside of them. They were obviously worn out. Not only that, they were just ... (more)

NOS - Dry System

... nozzle aimed towards the front of the car. From what I understand, unless your car is pulling 450+HP then I don't think you are going to push the NOS inside the bottle back so it can't be pulled up by the nozzle. Slightly turn the bottle sideways in it's mounts so that the label is slightly towards the front of the car. After you find where you want the bottle, hold the bottle brackets where ... (more)

... solenoid. Take the bracket that comes with the kit and mount both the fuel and nitrous solenoids to it. Find a spot in the engine bay on the passenger side to mount it. I used an old bolt hole from something that I removed earlier. Mount the bracket securely to the inside wheel well or the firewall. Then connect your fuel feed hose to the IN side of the fuel solenoid. Now connect the lines ... (more)

... connection again when I put the instrument panel back together. It turns out that the threaded lug is the signal that tells the gauge to deflect backwards, towards empty or cool. Power is applied to pins 1 and 2 to cause the meter to deflect to the full or hot position. The solution was to solder a wire from the casing on the meter (which is connected to the thread lug) to the appropriate trace ... These will make it so the gears are very defined and you don't have any of that spungyness in the shifter. I find it slips into gear a lot smoother now, the wife defines it crisper and more solid (she likes it). The shifter ... (more)
