Body: I have a 2001 Tyota Auto which I paid off in full when my father who orginally purchased it for me defaulted on the payments. I sent the credit union holding the title the balance of over $7,000 as they said they would send me the title. I have the canclled checks, but nothing in writting fron them. Now they won't send me the title as they are holding it as colladural against another car loan my father made & has defaulted on and they can't locate him. They say if I tell them where to locate him they will send me the title.
He moves around I also don't know were he lives. I am moving to New York next month to graduate school, won't need the car there and need to sell it. I also need the money from the sale as a good deal of it was my student loan money for school. I can't sell it in the US with out the title. Can you sell it for me in Ca without the title? I do own the car. It was my mistake to take these people at their word & not get the agreement in writting. Also having a
