I am incredibly interested in finding the right kei truck for myself. What better vehicle for a guy who can't justify buying a quad, and also needs a truck. How are they on gas? which make is usually the most reliable and how many k's do they run until? I know that with a civic 30,000kms is nothing, but I noticed most kei trucks have low kms. Is this because they do not last?

Because of the small distances in Japan, compared to North America, the Japanese vehicles average only 6000 km per year. The high cost of fuel and parking also contribute to this. The cost of a 15 year old used vehicle in Japan is very low, but the major cost is permit fees and shipping to Canada. This means that the exporters usually look for low kms and clean vehicles only. The Japanese government also requires the very expensive inspection of used vehicles every two years.
