'93 Nissan CV Boot - is this damage typical?

Body: Can someone please advise if they've ever seen a CV Boot crack "across" the boot (horizontally) as opposed to cracking circularly "around" it. Both of my boots appear to have cracked simultaniously (the grease still apears to be fresh) all the way across. I've never seen it happen this way. Please advise.
