What is emotors.ca?

We are Canadian internet community for car lovers and enthusiasts. Currently we provide our guests and members with such options as:

• Browsing, selling or buying vehicles and parts
• Reading and posting automotive articles, tips, or technical write ups
• Writing reviews or participating in ongoing discussions with guests and other members in our forums. Please note that all our services are FREE of charge. Should you find any problems while browsing our website, please do not hesitate to contact us at feedback@emotors.ca. We hope your visit to our website will be a well spent time and you will find everything you are looking for.

Cars section Cars sections consists of four link:

• Search Listings. This is where our users can search for all vehicles offered for sale on emotors.ca. It will take you to our quick search engine where you will also have a choice to go to an advanced search.
• Dealers Part of the website is reserved specifically for auto dealers who would like to create their own “Virtual Garage”, which will include their entire fleet or specific cars from that fleet.
• Sell Car For all those users who wish to sell their car or cars. If you wish to post your vehicle for sale click on the “Sell Car” link after which you will be prompted to sign in. Once user is signed in he or she will need to follow three simple steps after which their vehicle will be posted on the website (“Posting an ad”).
• Need Help? This section will provide users with all the help they might need.

You will see a section with QuickHelp displayed on almost every page. The “QuickHelp” is designed to offer you some quick tips throughout the different sections of the website.

You can click on the arrows (circled in red), and the “Quick Help” information will be displayed.

Should you need more help on any page of the website, you can click on the “help” link located under the banner:

In order to register, you need to click on the “Register” link located in the middle of the screen under the banner.

You will then see the following screen:

You need to fill in all the mandatory fields circled in red. All other fields are optional, but recommended.

Please note the check boxes circled in green. In this section, you get to pick which information you want to be displayed on your vehicle ad. If you wish your contact name, phone number and address to be displayed on your ad, you will need to check all three boxes.

Once you have completed filling up this form, you will need to agree to eMotors.ca Terms and Conditions and Privacy Statement (section circled in yellow) by checking the box.

Once you have filled the form and read our “Terms and Conditions” as well as “Privacy Statement” press on the “Register” button. Welcome a board!

Make sure you remember the username and the password you have used during the registration as these will be needed to sign in (Signing In).

You can sign in using two different methods. Please note that you first need to be a registered user in order to sign in (Registering). You can either sign in using the link located underneath the banner or the sign in section of the homepage (both circled in red in the following figure). If you use the section in the homepage, you need to enter your username and your password (the ones you used to register). You can also choose to click the “Keep me signed in” box. This will keep you signed in. Once you are done, click on the “Sign In” button.

You need to go to your profile and in the Menu section , click on “Personal Preferences”. The “Personal Preferences” link is located on the left side and is the first choice in “Menu” section.

Personal Preferences

In order to make changes to your “Personal Preferences”, you will need to fill out the fields of interest, and then click on the “Save Changes” button at the bottom of the page.

Profile

Your profile contains all your personal information such as your address, your contact information as well as your vehicle posting(s) in the Virtual Garage section. You can access your profile by clicking on the “Profile” link:

This will take you to the following window where you can change your “Personal Preferences” and your password.

You can also access your Virtual Garage and look through your saved searches. Also note the summary section which is provided to let you know how many vehicles you have in your garage as well as how many vehicles are posted on the website.

How to access the search page ?

To access the search page from the homepage (www.emotors.ca), you should click on the "car" link as shown on the following figure:

Once you have clicked on this link, it will bring you to the following page:

You now need to click on the "Search Listings" image circled in red. This will take you to the search page.

How to Search for vehicles?

In order to search, you need to select the criteria of interest to you. For example, if you want to search for cars in the “Greater Toronto Area” which have maximum mileage of 100,000 km, you would go through following steps: First, select “Greater Toronto Area” as your “Region” of search:

Then, pick the desired mileage:

You can also search for cars that are in your area by using the “Within Postal Code” criteria. For example, you can specify that you would like the search engine to display only the cars that match the criteria you have picked and that are within 10 km of your postal code.

Once you are done picking the criteria’s of interest to you, click on the “Show Results” button at the bottom of the page. All the cars meeting your search criteria will be displayed on the screen. For a more advanced search, you can go to the “Advanced Search” page.

How to access the advanced search page ?

To access the advanced search page, you need to go to the search page. Once on the search page you can access the advacanced search page by clicking on the "Advanced Search" link.

How to use Advanced Search for vehicles ?

“Advanced Search” allows you to narrow down the search criteria by selecting one or more of the available options. For illustration purposes, lets assume we are trying to search for a HONDA with leather interior and xenon lights. First, we would choose the make "Honda" from the drop down list.

Then, we would select the “Leather Seats” and “Xenon Headlights” options.

By selecting “Leather Seats” and “Xenon Headlights” we are telling the search engine to search for all cars of HONDA make in the Database which have these options. Once the desired options have been selected, we can click on the “Show Results” button to view the cars with the selected options. In this example it will be all the cars with leather seats and xenon lights.

When you post a vehicle ad on the website, it is automatically added to your virtual garage. Your virtual garage holds all the vehicles ads you have created on the website. If you wish to modify or remove one or more ads from the posting or delete altogether your vehicle ad at any given time, you just need to go to your virtual garage.

In order to view your virtual garage, you need to be signed in (Signing In) . Once you are signed in, click on the “Profile” link located at the bottom of the banner (“Profile”).

You will see the following screen. Click on the “Virtual Garage” link.

You can add a new vehicle to your virtual garage(create a new ad) by clicking on the “Add Vehicle” button.

In this example, there is a BMW vehicle ad posted on the website. The green P means that the ad is currently posted on the website. The ad can be either modified (need to click on the “Modify” icon encircled in red), or you can remove the ad from the postings (by clicking on the “Remove” icon encircled in red).

If the ad is not posted yet, you will see an "X" displayed in front of the car. In this case you can modify the ad, Post it, or Delete it completely from your virtual garage. Please note that all the changes you made will take effect immediately.

In order to post a vehicle, you need to be signed in (Signing In) . On any page, you can pick “Sell Car” link at the top of the page right below the banner.

Once you click on this link, if you are not signed in already, you will be asked to sign in.

If you are already signed in, or just signed, it will direct you to the following page:

In order to create an ad, three simple steps need to be followed.

Step1: Details

You need to select all the details which are relevant to your vehicle. If you wish to have more information on how to proceed, you can expand the “Quick Help” section (Quick Help). Once you have selected and filled all the criteria (all fields except “Description” are mandatory), you can proceed to the next step by clicking “Next” at the bottom of the page. The following figure gives an example where an ad is created for an Acura.

The “Go to Garage” button will take you back to your Virtual Garage.

Step2: Options

On this page, you will see a list of possible car options. Pick the ones relevant to your vehicle. In our example, let's assume the Acura has leather seats, power windows, power mirrors, power Steering, driver airbag and a sunroof. The following would be checked:

Step3: Pictures

Click on the "Browse" button to choose a picture stored on the hard drive of your computer then click on the "Upload" button to upload the picture to our server. The picture has to have a size of at least 200x150 pixels, with the size of the file of no more than 2Mb.(Depending on the size of the file and your connection speed the file tranfer may take up to several minutes.) You can upload up to six pictures. All the pictures uploaded will be displayed in your ad.

Once your picture is uploaded, you can post your add by clicking on the "Post Car" button. This will make your ad immediately available to the vehicle listing of the website. You can also go back to your Virtual Garage. In this case, your ad will not be posted, but it will be saved to your Virtual Garage. You will have the ability to post it later one if you wish (Virtual Garage).
